Moldavite formed roughly 15 million years ago after a meteorite struck what is now southern Germany. The intense heat and force of the impact melted terrestrial material and launched it into the atmosphere, where it cooled and eventually fell back to Earth as the natural green tektite we now know as Moldavite.
Iron meteorite, on the other hand, actually came from space. Iron meteorites are composed primarily of iron and nickel and are believed to come from the metal-rich interiors of ancient asteroid parent bodies formed during the early history of our solar system.
